    number of candidates in the week starting 3 August 2009 which is
; E% a: ^) S/ U, a. [# i' B4 b    designed to show postholders what the job of a Patent Attorney 8 m; q( l- a/ @8 q8 W$ G
    really entails. Successful candidates will receive first hand 6 ^* J7 l5 G- G+ B* G
    experience dealing with the UK Patent Office on high tech matters 7 n* n5 o! o  s: B6 g
    within their own field and will be shown the basics of patent + z9 t' r" M+ ~  ?$ u+ x  U) G
    drafting. Finally, successful candidates will handle a 0 s! L. `4 `6 z1 l2 _  D
    contentious matter using skills learnt over the course of the
, m2 w' f* f& e( L! m$ F' E    placement to defend or challenge a patent against other placement
* c4 R2 T7 l' D    students with an audience of patent attorneys. : W* V8 n( Z& _3 s+ B( M6 ?. o
