    really entails. Successful candidates will receive first hand
( l( N1 @- u# ^, K$ u* R* P4 i2 s' Z    experience dealing with the UK Patent Office on high tech matters ' g6 }' y+ F( U9 I+ s
    within their own field and will be shown the basics of patent ( {6 F0 X# r3 h% x; U
    drafting. Finally, successful candidates will handle a / E$ e9 v" s/ C: U! e/ O
    contentious matter using skills learnt over the course of the
% d6 J4 J& e2 x7 }    placement to defend or challenge a patent against other placement
: K0 z' [1 Z6 g" T3 h    students with an audience of patent attorneys.
