Pensioner dies in bus collision
An 85-year-old woman died when she was hit by a bus in Manchester city centre, police said.

The pensioner, who has not been named, was struck on Parker Street, close to Piccadilly bus station, on Thursday afternoon.

A police spokesman said she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed following the collision and motorists are being advised to avoid the area. Any witnesses are asked to contact police.
